CLASSICAL SIBERIA
Our nine-day tour will allow you to venture into Eastern and Western Siberia as well the Russian Far East. Founded near the turn of the 20th century on the River Ob’, Novosibirsk quickly became the third largest city in Russia. The city has important mathematics schools and computer centres, as well as ample cultural opportunities, furnished with theatres, art galleries, a conservatory and an Opera House. With the cultural heritage of its aristocratic exiles, the Asiatic influences of nearby Mongolia and China, and the easy accessibility of Lake Baikal, Irkutsk is one of the most appealing cities on the Trans-Siberian trail. Khabarovsk, situated in Russia’s Far East, at the confluence of the Amur River and its tributary, the Ussuri, has the air almost of a coastal resort and boasts some very attractive 19th-century brick architecture.
DAY 1 - NOVOSIBIRSK Upon arrival in Novosibirsk (by plane from Moscow or St.Petersburg), transfer to the hotel for overnight.
DAY 2 - NOVOSIBIRSK Morning guided city sightseeing tour including the beautiful embankment of the Ob’ River, the impressive monument to the Soviet power in front of the Opera House and a drive through the suburban town of academicians, one of the branches of Russian Academy of Science.
DAY 3 - NOVOSIBIRSK Morning at leisure. Transfer to the train station to board the Trans-Siberian train.
DAY 4 - IRKUTSK Full day on the train with breakfast and dinner served on board. Upon arrival in Irkutsk, transfer to the hotel and check in.
DAY 5 - LAKE BAIKAL After breakfast in the hotel, full day excursion to Lake Baikal, the deepest fresh water lake in the world, including entrance to the Museum of Wooden Architecture and a boat trip. Lunch in Listvyanka restaurant on the Lake’s shore.
DAY 6 - KHABAROVSK Morning transfer to the airport. Depart on a flight to Khabarovsk. Upon arrival in Khabarovsk, transfer to the hotel and check in.
DAY 7 - KHABAROVSK Morning guided city sightseeing tour of Khabarovsk including the bustling main street, a leafy tree-lined boulevard with some very attractive 19th-century brick architecture. Afternoon visit to the village of Nanais, a local tribe.
DAY 8 - KHABAROVSK After breakfast in the hotel, a boat trip on the Amur River, during which you will admire the grandeur of this famous Siberian river.
DAY 9 - KHABAROVSK After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport. Depart on a flight to St.Petersburg or Moscow.
