MOSCOW – SERGIEV POSAD – NOVGOROD THE GREAT – ST.PETERSBURG – KOROBITZYNO – VYBORG

DAY 1 MOSCOW

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check in and dinner.

In the morning you will have a guided city tour including Tverskaya Street, panoramic views of the Kremlin, observation platform on Sparrow Hills and other famous sights. In the afternoon you will visit Christ the Savior’s Cathedral followed by a walking tour of Red Square where you will see St.Basil’s Cathedral, Lenin’s Mausoleum and the GUM department store. After dinner you will attend an evening performance at the Moscow circus (TBC).

 

DAY 3 MOSCOW

You will start this day with a guided tour of the Kremlin grounds, during which you will see the famous Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell and the interior of one of the cathedrals. It will be followed by a visit to the Armory Museum, housing the treasures of the Russian tsars including Faberge jewellery. The afternoon rehearsal will be followed by an evening concert.

 

DAY 4 MOSCOW

In the morning you will depart for Sergiev Posad, one of Russia’s most important religious and historical landmarks and a place of spiritual pilgrimage, where you will have a guided tour of the functioning Trinity Monastery of St.Sergius with its stunning churches. After dinner in a local restaurant you will return to Moscow to take an overnight train to Novgorod the Great.

 

DAY 5 NOVGOROD THE GREAT

Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel for breakfast. Then you will have a guided city tour including visits to the Kremlin and the Sofia Cathedral, one of the finest examples of early Russian architecture. After the free time in the afternoon you will attend an evening concert at Novgorod Philharmonic Hall (TBS), followed by dinner in the hotel.

 

DAY 6 NOVGOROD THE GREAT

You will begin this day with an excursion to St.George’s Monastery in the suburbs of Novgorod the Great. In the afternoon you will visit the local musical college named after Rachmaninoff to meet the students and the teachers, followed by a joint workshop. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant.

 

DAY 7 NOVGOROD THE GREAT – ST PETERSBURG

In the morning you will depart by coach for St.Petersburg. Upon arrival you will have lunch in a local restaurant followed by guided city tour including Nevsky Prospect, the Square of Fine Arts, Peter and Paul Fortress, St.Isaac’s Square and other famous sights. After the tour you will be transferred to your hotel.

 

DAY 8 ST PETERSBURG

You will start this day with participation in the morning Mass in the Anglican Church (TBC). In the afternoon you will have your rehearsal followed by an evening concert.  Dinner will be served in the hotel.

 

DAY 9 KOROBITZYNO (this day program applies in winter only)Korobitzino

After breakfast you will depart for the village of Korobitzyno, a resort located in picturesque pine-tree woods at the distance of 80 km from St.Petersburg, primarily famous for its snow-covered slopes for downhill skiing and sledging available till late March. Upon arrival you will have lunch in the Suontaka restaurant. In the afternoon you will enjoy vatrushka sliding down snow-covered hill. Vatrushka downhill sliding is a popular Russian folk entertainment when you sit on an “inflated tire” and slide down the snow-covered hill. You will check in at the Zolotaya Dolina hotel followed by dinner in the Suontaka restaurant.

 

DAY 10 VYBORG

In the morning you will depart for the town of Vyborg. Located at the border with Finland, it traces its history to 1293, when it grew up around the Swedish castle. This is the only West European castle in Russia which survived till nowadays. The Castle, the Clock Tower and the City Hall Tower are the main landmarks of Vyborg. Upon arrival you will have a guided city tour of Vyborg with a visit to the Castle. After lunch in a local restaurant you will depart for St.Petersburg.

 

DAY 11 ST PETERSBURG

You will have this morning at leisure to rest. After lunch you will visit children’s musical school No.6 (TBC) to meet the students and the teachers, to attend classes followed by a joint concert in the school assembly hall.

 

DAY 12 ST PETERSBURG

In the morning you will have a guided tour of the Hermitage Museum, the Tsars' former winter palace, which houses perhaps the most fabulous collection of painting and applied arts in the world. In the afternoon you will have a guided tour of St.Isaac’s Cathedral, famous for its opulent interior decoration and mosaics. Dinner will be served in the hotel.

 

DAY 13 ST PETERSBURG

You will have this morning at leisure. In the afternoon you will have an excursion to Tsar’s Village (the town of Pushkin) with a guided visit to Catherine’s Palace where you will see the Gold Rooms and the Amber Room, the 8th wonder of the world. The tour will be followed by a farewell dinner with a Russian folk show at the Podvorje Restaurant with its authentic Russian cuisine.

 

Day 14 ST PETERSBURG

Transfer to the airport
