Tretyakov Gallery This tour will take you to the second largest collection of Russian art after the State Russian Museum in St.Petersburg. The collection was founded by the Russian merchant and connoisseur of fine arts Pavel Tretyakov in 1856. In 1892 he presented it to the city of Moscow. The museum boasts masterpieces from the 15th century icons by Andrei Rublev and Dionysius to the early 20th century paintings by Shishkin, Vasnetsov and Vrubel. Approximate duration: 5 hours.
Pushkin Fine Arts Museum The collection of the museum embraces art from ancient times to modern days and numbers over 500,000 objects of fine and applied arts. The museum was opened in 1912. You will the highlights of the collection, antique sculpture, Roman mosaics, Egyptian art, European art of the 14-20th centuries. The museum is mostly famous for its collection of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. Approximate duration: 5 hours.
Sergiev Posad This excursion will take you to the Trinity Monastery of St Sergius, one of Russia’s most important religious and historical landmarks and a place of spiritual pilgrimage, founded in 1345 by Sergius of Radonezh. The exquisite Trinity Cathedral, built over his tomb, is a national shrine. The monastery was closed down by the Communists in 1919 but was allowed to open again in 1946, when it became headquarters of the Russian Orthodox Church. Today the huge complex is enclosed by white walls around 1.6 km (1 mile) long. Its stunning churches, grouped around the spectacular Cathedral of the Assumption, are among the most beautiful in Russia. Approximate duration: 6 hours.
