BALLET LOVERS This tour is designed for those who love and admire Russian ballet. It gives an opportunity not only to attend ballet, but also to explore its backstage. This tour can not be conducted in August and September when ballet companies are on tours. DAY 1 Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel. DAY 2 You will begin this day with the city tour including Nevsky Prospect, the Square of Fine Arts, St.Isaac’s Square and a visit to Peter and Paul Fortress, the birth place of St.Petersburg. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore the city on your own. In the evening you will enjoy a ballet performance in Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre. DAY 3 This morning you will have the backstage tour of Mariinsky Theatre, during which you will learn about the history of the building and the specific features of Russian ballet stages and visit the atelier des costumes. After an independent lunch in a local café you will have a guided tour of the Hermitage museum, one the world’s largest art museums. DAY 4 In the morning you will go outside St.Petersburg to Tsar’s Village (the town of Pushkin) and visit to Catherine’s Palace where you will see the opulent Gold Rooms and the Amber Room, the 8th wonder of the world. After the tour you will have time at leisure, followed by an evening performance in Mikhailovsky (Mussorgsky) Theatre. DAY 5 You will start the day with a visit to Alexander Nevsky Lavra, where famous Russian composers and the founder of Russian classical ballet school, the choreographer M.Petipat, are buried. In the afternoon you will attend a rehearsal/master-class in a ballet theatre or visit a ballet school to meet teachers and students. This evening you will have your farewell dinner in the Backstage restaurant of Mariinsky Theatre, which belongs to the theatre and where the dancers often go to after performances. The restaurant is decorated with various theatrical objects, photographs and autographs of famous dancers and musicians.
